What is Maak Impact?
We believe jobs, not aid alone, lift communities out of poverty.
Maak Impact funds and supports refugee entrepreneurs in Kakuma, Kenya — one of the largest refugee camps in the world. We provide growth loans, business training, and hands-on mentorship to help the most promising camp businesses expand, hire, and build a self-sustaining local economy. Because when one entrepreneur grows, the whole community moves forward.
300,000 refugees call Kakuma home. We're here to make sure that home has an economy.
We're not an aid organization. We're a non-profit business development organization that happens to work in a refugee camp.
Fabiola, a refugee entrepreneur in Kakuma, started with 3 employees and a porridge recipe. Today she runs a registered Kenyan food company with 18 employees selling across 4 cities. That's what investment in the right person looks like.
