Banza Ilunga - Help His Family Take Care of Their Disabled Son
$0 raised of $200 goal
While fleeing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Banza Ilunga’s young son was violently pushed down. The fall caused a severe, traumatic brain injury. Today, Banza's son lives with profound cognitive and physical disabilities—he has extremely limited mobility, is reliant on a wheelchair, and requires round-the-clock care.
In the Kakuma refugee camp, providing 24/7 care for a disabled child makes it incredibly difficult for Banza to find and maintain regular employment. He is stuck in a devastating cycle of trying to provide for his family while ensuring his son survives.
The Goal: $200 for 6 Months of Stability
We are raising $200 to help Banza establish a sustainable, home-based work solution.
In Kakuma, $200 is equivalent to 6 months of average income. This crucial funding will provide Banza with the startup capital and breathing room he needs to build a small business. With a sustainable income source at home, he can finally provide for his family while remaining close by to help care for his son.
Your donation goes directly to Banza, giving Banza and his family the tools to build stability and dignity for his family. Please consider donating and sharing his story today.

General donations gives our team in Kakuma the flexibility to deploy your gift where it is needed most, whether that is a loan, training, or direct support for a family in need.
Where does my general donation go?
Your donation goes directly to the Maak Impact team on the ground in Kakuma, who deploy it where it is needed most. That might be a growth loan for a business ready to expand, training for an entrepreneur just getting started, or goods purchased from a refugee-run business and delivered to a family in need. Our team knows the camp and knows where every dollar will have the greatest impact.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Every donation to Maak Impact is fully tax-deductible. 100% of your gift goes directly to refugee entrepreneurs and programs inside Kakuma. Overhead is covered separately, so every dollar you donate reaches the people it is meant for.
How is Maak Impact different from traditional aid?
We fund businesses, not dependency. Rather than distributing aid that runs out, we invest in refugee entrepreneurs who create jobs, generate income, and multiply the impact of every dollar through the businesses they build. One loan becomes a business. One business becomes ten jobs. Ten jobs change a community.
