FRE Loan Program

Fabiola Nzoyikorera – Wholesale Distribution Expansion Loan

$0 raised of $8,000 goal

Fabiola Nzoyikorera arrived in Kakuma with three children and no income. She developed her own recipe for an ultra-nutritious porridge proven to restore malnourished children to health in weeks, grew that business to 18 employees feeding over 200 people every week, and repaid her first Maak Impact loan in full.

Now she's ready for her next chapter: a wholesale crop distribution business that will reshape how food moves through the entire Kakuma market.

Fabiola's Wholesale Goods will:

  • Source crops directly from farmers (rice, maize, soybeans, sesame, cassava, peanuts, and wheat)
  • Supply retail shops throughout Kakuma at better prices with more reliable supply
  • Leverage her existing network and 18-person operational experience

The $8,000 loan will fund:

  • ~$2,750 — Initial bulk crop inventory direct from farmers
  • ~$2,875 — Physical shop space in Kakuma market
  • ~$1,080 — Motorbike for deliveries and farmer pickups
  • ~$1,295 — Remaining startup and operational costs

When Fabiola's wholesale operation is running, retail shops get better prices, farmers get reliable buyers, and families across Kakuma get more affordable access to the staple crops they depend on. This is not charity — this is infrastructure.

Fundraising Goal: $8,000

Our business loans are designed to help existing businesses scale or give start-ups the change to prove revenue generation.

When is the loan disbursed?

Loans are disbursed as soon as they are fully funded. A written agreement is made between Maak Impact and the entrepreneur. Funds are typically in the entrepreneurs account within 10 business days of a completed loan fundraiser.

How is the loan monitored and repaid?

Repayments are tracked monthly, with clear fixed amounts set from the start. Entrepreneurs know that strong repayment unlocks future loans and growth opportunities and that missing payments closes that door. No collateral is held against refugees. This accountability model is proven and working well inside the camp.

Where does the money go that is repaid?

Repaid funds flow directly back into Maak Impact's loan pool, ready to fund the next entrepreneur. This creates a powerful incentive - refugees know that their repayment directly opens the door for another person in their community to access capital and build something. Every repayment keeps capital working inside the camp, constantly cycling through new businesses and new opportunities. Your contribution never leaves Kakuma.
