Financial empowerment delivered directly to the entrepreneurs who need it most.

For many talented individuals in Kakuma camp, a lack of access to traditional banking is the only thing standing in the way of building a thriving business. That is where the MAAK Loan program steps in. Managed on the ground by local operators Damaris Chirchir and Pascal Itangishaka, the program currently oversees more than $13,000 in active capital. This funding is distributed across 11 strategic loans, bringing critical financial leverage to local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).

This is not just a capital injection; it is a highly accountable engine for sustainable growth. The program is strictly outcome-based and only expands when our borrowers hit a rigorous 95% target repayment rate. Every quarter that this incredible metric is achieved, a new $5,000 tranche of deployable capital is unlocked. Today, we are actively raising funds to hit our Q4 release.

When you contribute to the Q4 capital pool, you are doing more than funding a loan. You are bridging the gap for business owners locked out of traditional financial systems. Furthermore, you are fueling a powerful seeding engine, allowing our team to identify, incubate, and elevate the next massive, community-changing businesses.

Your contribution to the Q4 release provides:

  • 💼  Vital scaling capital deployed directly to entrepreneurs, small businesses, and VSLAs
  • 📈  Outcome-driven growth that rewards and sustains a proven 95% repayment success rate
  • 🤝  Local empowerment, backing a financial ecosystem managed on the ground by our in-camp directors
  • 💡 An incubation funnel that helps discover and support Kakuma’s next breakout enterprise

100% of your donation goes directly into the Q4 deployable capital pool, instantly unlocking larger opportunities for businesses ready to scale.

Our business loans are designed to help existing businesses scale or give start-ups the change to prove revenue generation.

When is the loan disbursed?

Loans are disbursed as soon as they are fully funded. A written agreement is made between Maak Impact and the entrepreneur. Funds are typically in the entrepreneurs account within 10 business days of a completed loan fundraiser.

How is the loan monitored and repaid?

Repayments are tracked monthly, with clear fixed amounts set from the start. Entrepreneurs know that strong repayment unlocks future loans and growth opportunities and that missing payments closes that door. No collateral is held against refugees. This accountability model is proven and working well inside the camp.

Where does the money go that is repaid?

Repaid funds flow directly back into Maak Impact's loan pool, ready to fund the next entrepreneur. This creates a powerful incentive - refugees know that their repayment directly opens the door for another person in their community to access capital and build something. Every repayment keeps capital working inside the camp, constantly cycling through new businesses and new opportunities. Your contribution never leaves Kakuma.
